ART(that matters) is an artist’s collective established in 2007 offering support through community gallery exhibitions and education while promoting social awareness along with arts and culture on Long Island.
Membership Fee: $50 per month
Membership includes:
Invitation to attend the bi-monthly artist collective meeting.
Full exhibition privileges, including the opportunity for solo*, group and “special event” shows.
Link to your website from our homepage.
Discount on workshops and lectures.
All mailings for gallery events, workshops and special events.
Discount on the rental of studio space.
The opportunity to vote on gallery issues.
* Solo shows are at the discretion of ART(that matters). Collective artists must be consecutive members for 12 months before scheduling a solo show. Costs associated with solo shows are split between the artist and ART(that matters). The artist is responsible for a $150 Solo Show Administration Fee to ART(that matters) to secure the date of their show.
Entry Into The Collective
All artists are required to submit a portfolio for review. The review will be conducted by appointment and must be scheduled in advance. Portfolios must contain 10-15 pieces of one or two themes. All art submitted for review must be exhibition ready. The actual art must be submitted for review. No portfolios will be accepted digitally or on a CD.
All artists will be responsible for sitting during gallery hours, attending meetings, participation in all gallery events, committee involvement, periodic installation of group show and helping to maintain the venue.
You must be a due paying member for 6 consecutive months before being eligible to show.
If dues are not received consecutively, the artist must wait 4 additional months before showing again.
All dues must be paid by the first meeting of the month.
Any art sold through ART(that matters) will be assessed a commission at the rate of 35%.
EXHIBITING ARTIST
Group Show Non-member
Any artist wishing to exhibit in our group shows must submit their work one month prior to the show date for review. Hanging fee will be $100 for up to three pieces for each show.
Solo Show Non-member
ART(that matters) will hang your work for the show an give you access to our on-line gallery and mailing list. We will also run the opening reception for you. All details of the show will be discussed after the portfolio review. The fee for a non-member solo show is $850 per event. The artist is responsible for food and beverages for the opening reception.
YOUNG ARTIST
This category is for the emerging artist under the age of 25 and is designed to give the artist the experience of a collective gallery with the responsibilities and privileges of a more established artist. There will be opportunities through the year for the artists in this category to gain experience and knowledge and exhibit their work in group shows. Fees for the events will be discussed with interested artists as events are planned throughout the year.
Art(that matters) is happy to welcome non-members to events, meetings, lectures and workshops for a “per event” fee to be posted on our calendar.
