Expressionism: Personal/Abstract

charcoal portraits and drawings

Join us on June 3rd (Art Walk Thursday) for a special reception and exhibition of student work from the award winning STAC gifted and talented arts program at Herricks High School. Approximately 60 pieces will be on display.

The exhibition is the culminating experience of a long term project which explored the expressive potential of charcoal as a medium. Students created both German Expressionist style self-portraits and Abstract Expressionist non-objective "self-portraits" based on techniques pioneered by artist/teacher/researcher Betty Edwards.

The reception begins at 7pm. Many of the student artists will be in attendance. Please stop in and see this wonderful work from a talented group of high school students.
